You Be The Judge is an ongoing series of articles written and illustrated by the late Robert Cole, who was an international all-breed judge, author and award-winning columnist/illustrator. He wrote The Basenji Stacked and Moving, and illustrated the book Dog Locomotion and Gait Analysis. These articles were originally published in the Dogs In Canada magazine from 1989 to 2004 and were highly regarded and educational in understanding breed conformation. CPPS felt they would be of great help to groomers in helping to understand how the finished dog should look after being groomed as well as some common conformation faults that will influence the grooming. All of the standards that Robert Cole wrote about were the ones that were current at the time the article was written, so always refer back to the CKC current standards to see if any changes have been made since.
We have tried to post as many of the breeds as possible that will be used in certification at the different levels and also those commonly brought into a groomer's shop. If there is a particular breed you would like to see, contact me and I will see if we have a Robert Cole article about it. Also, please let us know what you think of the articles.
We apologize for the quality of the background on some of the drawings in the articles. These were scanned from the original magazine pages, and so the paper is old and thin, which resulted in some bleed-through of the type.
